Your eyes are not playing tricks on you
No matter if you’re new to the area or you’ve lived here your entire life – when driving on South Orchard near the intersection of Emerson / 40th Street West (or really anywhere near there) You will see
a big… no… huge…. no…. ENORMOUS building rising seemingly right out of the hill.
the odd construction and location have taken the people of TACOMA by surprise and caused them to ask… what in the world is that building…
well… here’s the answer
The building is going to be a robot-run 25 million cubic feet cold storage facility fully automated to run 24 hours a day and allow for a 24 hour order to ship cycle.
Pretty awesome and scary at the same time, I must say.
This is a $50 million project and comes from a Netherlands company and will be the first of its kind.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be a trend moving forward…. look up “Amazon Hives” if you want a look into the future.
